Avantor Performance Materials announces executive promotions and appointments

PHILLIPSBURG, USA: Avantor Performance Materials announces the recent appointment of several new leaders as the company continues to expand its presence in a wide range of industries, including biotechnology and pharmaceutical production; electronics and photovoltaic manufacturing; and in research, academic and quality control laboratories.

Avantor, formerly Mallinckrodt Baker, manufactures and markets high-performance chemistries and materials around the world under several respected brand names, including the J.T.Baker, Macron, Rankem and Diagnova brands.

Avantor is pleased to announce the following appointments:

Sushil Mehta was appointed executive vice president. Mehta will lead Avantor’s global laboratory/clinical business and will also manage the company’s overall Southeast Asia region. Mehta was previously the managing director and CEO at RFCL Limited in India before it was acquired by Avantor in February, 2011.

Paul Smaltz was promoted to executive vice president. Smaltz will lead Avantor’s global pharmaceuticals business and will also manage the company’s overall Americas region. Smaltz was formerly vice president of global marketing.

Brian Wilson was appointed executive vice president of operations. Wilson will be responsible for improving efficiencies in the company’s day-to-day operational activities throughout the global supply chain and will oversee all company operations. Before joining Avantor, Wilson was a senior consultant at Asset Performance Networks and a production leader in the Epoxy, Specialty Chemicals and Dow AgroScience businesses for Dow Chemical.
