BANGALORE, INDIA: Mistral Solutions, a leading product realization company specializing in real-time embedded solutions and Eurocopter a Germany-based helicopter manufacturing company, have signed an MoU to jointly collaborate and execute activities in the aerospace and defense domains.
According to the agreement, Mistral will be a technology partner to Eurocopter and will offer engineering services covering hardware design, firmware/embedded software development, systems integration, testing and qualification. This will help Eurocopter to meet its defense offset obligations in relation to several acquisition programmes of the Ministry of Defense, Government of India.
Under the “offset program” laid down by the Government of India, for imports of defense equipment valued above 300 crores, it is mandatory for foreign sellers to spend 30% of the contract value in India; sourcing goods and services from Indian companies. The offset obligation may be fulfilled in the form of co-production, licensed production, technology transfer, outsourcing of components, etc.
Mistral’s decade-long experience in meeting the complex and demanding requirements of defense customers was a key factor in Eurocopter’s decision to sign on Mistral as a technology partner.
The MoU paves the way for a long-term profitable and stable relationship between Mistral and Eurocopter, in fulfilling the challenging requirements of their customers in the defense and aerospace domains.

Honeywell chairman and CEO Dave Cote forecasts growth in India
BANGALORE, INDIA: Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote inaugurated a new $50m research, development & engineering facility at Orion, Outer Ring Road in Bangalore. It is Honeywell’s second R&D center in the city. The new facility will accommodate 3,000 people and features laboratory facilities, simulators, and a training center.
"India is an integral part of Honeywell’s global growth strategy," said Cote. "We are committed to India as a manufacturing location, export hub and most importantly as a centre of engineering and R&D excellence. Our presence here has grown from 1,000 employees in 2002 to more than 10,000 today. Honeywell has five manufacturing facilities and more than 20 other locations across the country with employees in 50 cities. We look forward to continuing our growth in India and building our capabilities here."
Honeywell is well positioned in key growth areas including aerospace and defense, public safety and security, and infrastructure development. Honeywell is collaborating with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) to produce TPE331 aircraft engines in India. The company is also pursuing a program to re-engine the IAF’s strike aircraft Jaguar with its F125IN turbofan engine.
Honeywell Technology Solutions (HTS) –- the company’s global R&D and innovation group -– employs 6,000 engineers. Headquartered in Bangalore, it has additional centers in Hyderabad and Madurai, as well as internationally in China, the Czech Republic and the United States.
