Philips India appoints new CEO

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Philips Board of Management announced the appointment of Rajeev Chopra as the Managing Director designate of Philips Electronics India Ltd, effective January 1, 2011.

Rajeev will combine this new role with his current position as Head Lighting India until his successor has been appointed.

Rajeev will take over from Murali Sivaraman who is moving to a global role at Philips to head the Domestic Appliances Business Group.

Rajeev joined Philips Lighting in April 2003 and his experiences include an international role within Philips Lighting. Prior to his current role as head of Lighting for Philips India, he was the General Manager Asia Pacific for Philips Luminaires, based in Shanghai, China.

He has also held senior management positions with market leaders such as Cisco Systems, Microsoft and Hewlett Packard. Rajeev hold a bachelor degree in engineering from IIT, Kanpur and is an MBA from Tulane University. He has also completed an Advanced Management Program from Wharton School in 2010.
