New iSCSI solution offers highest performance for digital video editing and broadcast apps

IRVINE, USA: Axstor has announced the new 10Gb, Ai-3110, a storage solution designed specifically to provide the highest levels of performance to digital video editing and broadcast applications.

The solution allows digital imaging, video editing, and pre- and post-video processing applications to benefit from the high data transfer rates of the world’s
fastest iSCSI storage array, supporting more simultaneous video streams and allowing more users to concurrently access the same storage device.

With performance of over 80,000 IOPs and a data transfer rate of more than 1,160MB/s, the Ai-3110 is significantly faster than any alternatives such as Fibre Channel storage systems, supporting up to 2.5x the numbers of users or streams of competitive solutions. The device connects directly to 10Gb Ethernet, simplifying installation, whilst the iSCSI interface minimises management overhead, reducing maintenance costs.

The Ai-3110 is a compact 3U high rack-mounted unit providing 16 drive bays that allow for up to 32TB of storage. It can be purchased with or without hard drives. A power footprint of just 65w per controller provides a reduction of around 150 to 200w compared to competitor systems.

“Video editing and production is a demanding application that requires the storage system to deliver data at a rate that ensures there are no pauses or skips,” commented Alan Shepherd, Axstor’s CEO. “This solution eliminates downtime by enabling more users to access multiple video streams simultaneously. The system has also been designed specifically for ease of management, whilst the low power consumption cuts
heat generation, lowers fan noise and contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.”

The Ai-3110 is available now at a price of £4,995 without hard drives or at £9,999 for a fully-loaded 32 TB system.
