INDIA: SWIFT, the financial messaging provider for more than 10,000 financial institutions and corporations in 210 countries, last week announced a timeline for the upcoming launch of Alliance Lite2. Expanding on Alliance Lite, Alliance Lite2 is the new, secure ‘cloud-based’ connectivity from SWIFT that supports higher message volumes, all SWIFT message formats and standards while providing access to all services offered over the SWIFT network.
Alliance Lite2 builds on the success of SWIFT’s Alliance Lite product, introduced in 2009, by providing an easy, cost-effective and direct connection to the SWIFT network through a cloud-based solution. Through this option, low- and middle-volume customers can leverage a SWIFT managed and operated connectivity option without on-site equipment, providing them world-class levels of security and reliability free from the need to maintain their connectivity and messaging infrastructure on premises. Alliance Lite2 can also be utilized as a safe, secure and cost-effective emergency ‘lifeline’ alternative to a full-fledged backup system.
“We are delighted that SWIFT will be launching Alliance Lite2 as an alternative to other offerings currently on the market,” stated Robert Blair, SWIFT and files channel management at J.P. Morgan. “Alliance Lite2 will give its users a superior on-boarding experience.”
Ed Adams, regional director, SWIFT, said: “SWIFT has always been committed to finding innovative ways to assist the financial industry while reducing their total cost of ownership through unique solutions. Alliance Lite2 will be the newest offering to combine SWIFT’s world-class levels of security and reliability with the convenience of ‘cloud’-based connectivity.”
Alliance Lite2 is beginning its pilot phase next month and is expected to be live in the summer of 2012.
