Immersion intros haptics solution for touch screen computers

SAN JOSE, USA: Immersion Corp. has announced a new product in the TouchSense 2000 series to power touch feedback effects in touch screen computers.

The TouchSense 2500 enables drop-in IC solutions to drive compelling haptic effects that transform the user experience in touch-based PCs, slates, tablets, netbooks, notebooks, ultra-portables and all-in-one computers.

As momentum for touch input increases, the company’s technology provides tactile response, making interactions more intuitive, satisfying and exciting by restoring “mechanical” feel to screens.

The TouchSense 2500 solution supports integrated and advanced UIs and touch gesture-based interactions and may be integrated to generate a rich palette of effects from simple alerts to sophisticated touch gestures in touch pads, capacitive buttons, touch screens and virtual keyboards. It includes product-specific reference designs, and a haptics effects library. TouchSense 2500 supports both Windows and Android operating systems.

“Now standard in mobile phones, we’re seeing increased adoption of touch-input interfaces across a range of other markets, most notably in mobile computing,” said Immersion’s Dennis Sheehan, vice president of marketing. “TouchSense 2500 provides OEMs and designers an easy-to-implement haptics solution and makes these interfaces dynamic, ultimately pleasing users and differentiating products."
