SAN RAMON, USA: MaxLinear Inc. has joined the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) as an Associate member.
MaxLinear's products enable the display of broadband video in a range of electronic devices, including cable and terrestrial set top boxes, digital TVs, mobile handsets, personal computers, netbooks and in-vehicle entertainment devices.
"Joining MoCA allows us to embed MoCA functionality into our solutions in order to further expand our broadband platform capabilities. As the worldwide standard for home networking, MoCA represents a significant opportunity for us," said Patrick Tierney, senior director of product line marketing at MaxLinear.
"MaxLinear plays a key role in enabling the display of broadband video across a wide range of devices, many of which are now being connected in the home. Adding MoCA technology will provide MaxLinear with a range of cost-effective and future-proofed solutions for their customers," said Charles Cerino, MoCA president.
MoCA is the worldwide standard for home entertainment networking and the only standard in deployment in all three pay TV segments (cable, satellite and Telco/IPTV). MoCA is included in the DLNA stack and the IEEE 802.1AS standard.
