MSRTC and Trimax launch e-ticketing services

MUMBAI: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corp. (MSRTC) has launched its first e-ticketing service for bus travelers in the state. The service will be offered in partnership with Trimax IT Infrastructure and Services Ltd on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis.

Bus travelers in Maharashtra will now be able to book their tickets through the MSRTC website (http://www.msrtc.gov.in/) within a matter of few minutes. This initiative will give a major boost to the growth of public road transport in the state of Maharashtra and increase the state governments’ revenues.

Convenience of getting a bus ticket has long been an issue with travelers with long queues, frequent delays resulting in bad customer experience and eventual loss of revenue for the government. This service will be available for buses associated with Maharashtra State Road Transport travelling across Maharashtra.

“This is a secured and robust solution that has been designed keeping the fast booking and user-friendliness in mind. It is going to be instrumental in assisting anticipated passenger strength of more than Rs. 224 crore on MSRTC’s operating distance of more than 178 crore kms per year. The project revenue will go to the tune of Rs. 200 crore in five years” said Shri Surya Prakash Madrecha, CMD, Trimax.

“This initiative is a visionary step in the right direction towards e-governance” added Madrecha.
