AuthenTec releases SDK to simplify integration for developers creating fingerprint sensor apps

MELBOURNE, USA: AuthenTec, a leading provider of security, identity management and touch control solutions, is now offering a software development kit (SDK) for developers to create applications around AuthenTec smart sensors and TrueSuite identity management software.

Through its newly released TrueAPI SDK, developers can quickly and easily create applications or modify their existing applications to include biometric support that leverage AuthenTec’s security and identity management features for today’s notebook PCs and netbooks.

AuthenTec’s new TrueAPI interfaces with the Company’s TruePrint smart sensors and TrueSuite software, enabling a wide range of new application possibilities that complement TrueSuite applications for replacing website logins and passwords, launching multiple favorite applications and websites, and/or locking files and folders with the single swipe of a finger.

AuthenTec’s TrueAPI is built for Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system and the new Windows Biometric Framework. The world’s leading notebook OEMs are shipping AuthenTec technology on multiple Windows 7-equipped PC models today, and the installed base of notebooks with AuthenTec’s sensors exceeds 40 million units worldwide, providing application developers a large base of PCs and a growing list of potential customers.

“Our new TrueAPI SDK provides application developers an opportunity to integrate biometric technology into their solutions and add a whole new dimension of convenience and security. With access to a growing community of PC users by way of our installed base of more than 40 million AuthenTec-enabled PCs, we offer a real product differentiation opportunity for our third party partners,” said Scott Long, AuthenTec's business development director.

“In addition, their integrated application can be showcased within our TrueSuite identity management software, currently being shipped in notebooks from leading PC OEMs, and soon to be available for download via Windows Update and the AuthenTec website. We look forward to expanding the number of applications that integrate with our TrueSuite software and building on our strong base of AuthenTec Alliance members by continuing to offer compelling solutions that will drive an enhanced user experience for our customers.”
