March notebook shipment increased to 40-50 percent month over month with low visibility in 2Q11 purchasing orders

TAIWAN: According to DRAMeXchange, a research department of Trendforce, February notebook shipment has declined 21.8 percent month over month. Quanta and Compal have fallen behind expectation with a shipment record of 3.2 million units and 2.7 million units respectively. On the other hand, Pegatron February shipment dropped about 50 percent month over month.

Some of the main reasons are the continuous outsourcing from Asus, February being the shorter month of the year, and the impact of Intel’s flawed chipset. Purchasing orders actively placed by PC-OEMs, March Notebook shipment will likely rebound 40-50 percent with a lower base number in February. Due to the delay of Sandy Bridge and decreased demand at the end-user side, the overall 1Q11 Notebook shipment will decline 14 percent quarter over quarter with a 1.2 percent decline year over year to a total of 44 million units a year.

Given some shipment being postponed to April, a back-to-school season surge in demand and a higher sea shipment ratio, 2Q11 Notebook shipment records at a 12.2 percent quarter over quarter increase to 49.4 million. According to DRAMeXchange, however, purchasing orders were placed sparingly with a low visibility, the channel side is reluctant to increase inventory.

The concern of high oil price and raising commodity price will impede the sales momentum. The devastating earthquake in Japan has influenced the production of some notebook components in part of semiconductor, panel and battery cell. DRAMeXchange will keep a close eye on the Notebook supply chain, Japan makes up for around 5 percent of the global market and we expect a delay in the cycle of the notebook replacement effect in Japan.

Thus, 2011 global notebook shipment was adjusted down to 215.2 million units with a growth rate of 11 percent year over year. 2011 worldwide PC growth rate (Tablet excluded) decreased from 8.8 percent to 7.4 percent.Source: DRAMeXchange.

Subscriptions can be put on hold at any time. If customers are unable to bet for any given period – due to holidays or a lack of internet connection, for example – BetAdvisor offers to place the subscription on hold for up to one year. In other words, no subscription time is wasted due to external constraints.

The service also offers the opportunity to change tipster for free once a month. Therefore, subscribers can try up to 12 different tipsters over the course of a year’s subscription. Subscribers can also evaluate and publish opinions on the tipsters they are following.

Finally, subscribers can access precise information on profits made thanks to the tipsters they have subscribed to. Predictions and their outcome, as well as performance, are verified by third-party organisations such as Sports-Tipsters.co.uk and RacingProofing.com.

CommScope unveils new identity

BANGALORE, INDIA: The company that began as a small provider of cabling to the nascent cable TV market in the 1970s has blossomed into a multi-billion dollar, global infrastructure leader with solutions installed in the world’s best wireless, wireline, enterprise and cable television networks.

Beginning today, its new branding will better reflect the energy, capabilities and leadership that CommScope provides every day in serving its vast array of customers across multiple markets.

CommScope’s new corporate identity is more representative of the company today and its role as a trusted resource and partner to network providers around the world. The brand makeover is the first for CommScope since the mid-1990s and follows the acquisitions of Avaya’s Connectivity Solutions division in 2003 and Andrew Corp. in 2007.

The new brand initiative portrays a more dynamic company with a contemporary look and feel and a more structured hierarchy of product and solution brands serving the telecom carrier, cable television, business enterprise and government markets.

“This is an exciting time for CommScope as we embark on the next phase of the company’s growth as a private company and as the global economy continues to rebound,” said Ted Hally, chief commercial officer, CommScope. “The introduction of our new corporate identity is a piece of that future, helping us tell a more unified story with clarity across the many markets and geographies we serve.

“CommScope has grown in size and expanded into new markets over the past decade, yet our branding wasn’t accurately reflecting the company we have become. Today, we have energized and modernized the look and feel of our brand, better defining to the market who we are. We also are integrating our strategic brands, while preserving their valuable equity and eliminating confusion with legacy corporate identities. CommScope no longer is a collection of separate businesses but one CommScope—an integrated global team of solution providers united in support of our great roster of customers.”

The new CommScope brand initiative includes:
* A tiered hierarchy of brands, in which CommScope will be the lead brand across all of its served markets.
* The design of a new logo featuring stylistic logotype in all capital letters, with an embedded and redesigned corporate icon that moves away from the previous “cable” icon.
* A change in corporate color to cyan blue from the previous teal green.
* The formalization of At Home, At Work and On the Go terms to represent the three primary market segments—broadband (cable TV), enterprise and wireless—served by CommScope today, and the introduction of icons to symbolize each. The On the
Go icon features the well-known “Andrew flash” that stood as Andrew Corporation’s logo for decades and is seen in wireless networks around the world.
* Use of former corporate brands Andrew and SYSTIMAX as solution brands in the On the Go and At Work markets.
